CORONATION FUND MANAGERS has won the European Pensions Emerging Markets Award at the 2021 European Pensions Awards. The Award was announced at the annual awards ceremony, hosted at the London Marriott Hotel on Wednesday, 20 October 2021.

The Award recognises Coronation for our industry-leading performance and world-class client experience.

The Coronation Global Emerging Markets (GEM) Equity Strategy was launched in 2008 and represents our view of the best investment opportunities in Emerging Markets. In 2020, the strategy ranked 8th out of 104 GEM all-cap strategies, and 1st out of 21 GEM all-cap core strategies, according to the investment platform eVestment. The strategy’s $6.3bn AUM comprises 72 institutional investors from the US, Canada, UK, Europe, Hong Kong, Australia, Japan and South Africa.

We serve clients from the humble perspective that without them, we have no business. The imperative to act as responsible stewards of our clients’ capital has long been part of our investment DNA. This, together with our disciplined investment approach, has delivered significant value to our clients over meaningful periods.

“We are honoured and proud to have won the Emerging Markets Award at the European Pensions,” says Kirshni Totaram, Global Head of Institutional Business. “As a homegrown South African business, our company has grown and thrived in the exciting environment of an emerging market over the past 28 years. We leverage our background to navigate the uncertainty of investing in these markets and to access the most compelling opportunities.”

The Awards give recognition to investment firms, consultancies and pension providers that have set the professional standards to best serve European pension funds over the past year. The Awards are open to any pension fund or firm which serves European pension funds.
